I LOVE Monday

I love Monday’s!!! Seriously, I do! Monday is the one day of the week that I get a chance to take a day off and try to catch up on the other parts of my life. Ministry is a 7 day a week, 24 hours a day job, and I love it…but sometimes you just need a day to refocus and seek some balance.

This past week I decided to try to “unplug” for a little while….so I grabbed my Bible, my journal, a cup of coffee and sat outside in my new “relaxation room” (that may be the BEST Christmas gift Matt & I ever gave to each other). I live in South Florida, so although it is winter everywhere else in the US it is so totally spring/summer down here. I sat outside, lit a candle, played some jazz music, turned on the waterfalls, and soaked up the goodness of God’s Word.

WOW…what an amazing morning I had…I spent an entire hour in Proverbs with my journal ready to record the amazing insights God brought to me that morning. Here’s a couple of verses I found as I was strolling through the Good Book…

Matthew 6:34, “Give your attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” (notice it says when the time comes…meaning it WILL come)

Oh…and get this one… Matthew 6:6, “Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place (like my relaxation room) so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage (easier said than done sometimes). The focus will shift from you to GOD, and you will begin to sense His grace.” (emphasis and orange words are my random thoughts…they are not from the Bible)

What an amazing God filled morning I was blessed to experience…I wish I could say that this happens every Monday…but after experiencing it this week…I WANT to be fully ready and present this coming Monday so I can try to be close with God like that again…it was off the charts.

  1. Melissa: I know exacly what you mean. I had one of those mornings last Thursday. How good it feels to have a date with God. Is hard not to “worry” about what can happen or not tommorrow. That is easier said than done. Take care and I always read your blogs.
