Our Comfort Allows Us to Comfort Others

Ok…how cool is this…I know I am totally vearing off for a second on the DREAMING thing (and I WILL get back to it, probably tonight when I can think straight), but check this out…in my quiet time yesterday I was knocked out by this little ditty from the Maxwell Leadership Bible.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

(Holy smokes…is that great or what????) – Read on to see what else was in the day’s devotional…

God promises to comfort us in our troubles, then asks us to share that comfort with others. We are to empower others with the power God gives us. Leaders who empower others offer these gifts:

ACCOUNTABILITY – They help others keep their commitments to God.
AFFIRMATION – They speak words of support and encouragement.
ASSESSMENT – They evaluate others’ progress, offering an objective perspective.
ADVICE – They offer words of wise counsel and direction.
ADMONISHMENT – They lend words of caution, rebuke, or correction.
ASSETS – They give tangible resources to help their people reach their goals.
ACCEPTANCE – They provide unconditional love, regardless of the recipients’ identity.
APPLICATION – They help others find places to apply and practice what they learn.

WOW…is that awesome or what? I pray that when I lead people they can see these gifts in me, in my calling, and my ministry. God has high expectations for leaders and it is so comforting to know that even when we need to be comforted that we can comfort others by our actions.
