Silence

These last couple of days I have purposefully been “Silent” from the BLOG…it was hard, but I was trying to sit still and know that HE is God…not me, but HE!!!

In the process of trying to carve out that time I did the wrong thing…I filled my days with appointments, people, lunches, coffees, errands, etc…and neglected to truly be silent and listen for Him. Check out a few things that I have learned today as I finally truly was “silent”…

According to Webster’s Dictionary Online
si·lence
1 : forbearance from speech or noise:
2 : absence of sound or noise:
3 : absence of mention:

Now…check out these GREAT verses I found in the Bible about silence:

Lamentations 3:28 (The Message) – When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions: Wait for hope to appear. Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face. The “worst” is never the worst.

Psalm 65:1 (The Message) [ A David Psalm ] Silence is praise to you, Zion-dwelling God, And also obedience. You hear the prayer in it all.

As I read through these verses I am reminded that it is good to be silent…it is good to sit still…and it is good to go off and be alone… I know that God still has a lot to teach me, but I think I finally realized today, that for me to hear Him…I need to be SILENT!

  1. Being silent is another form of submission. Like your hubby once said…sometimes we need to listen to God and stop talking. I think some of us (me) struggle with this…because we fear what God may be trying to tell us…instead we need to welcome Him in – through all circumstances…and then the hard part…but most important part…be obedient to what we hear in our silent time with Him. Thanks for these verses to meditate on Mel.
