A Partridge in a Pear Tree

Here we are on Christmas Eve and not only did my true love give to me a Partridge in a Pear Tree he gave me a Christmas week to remember. You see, for the last 4 1/2 years I have been in full time (and then some) ministry at a mega church in the South Florida area. The thing is that I loved it, wouldn’t have changed it for the world, but this year is different…

God has called us to move on to something else, something new, something exciting (and scary), but different nonetheless. We have always filled our December’s with so many church things that our family things sort of always took a back seat (for the call…all you pastors and families know what I mean). It was not a bad thing, not at all…our kids learned the value of serving, of giving, and of being in and of something that was bigger than them…and we will never forget that. But there is more…more that God wants from our family, more that God wants from our ministries, and more that HE wants to teach us…so this year is different (there’s that word again) and we are so blessed to be experiencing it.

We have spent the last four days filled with family (15 of us in one house), with Christmas parties, with baking cookies and watching movies together, and with all of us sitting in seats at a church where we were not expected to do anything other than be there…what a blessing!

My cup runs over with the blessings that HE has brought to me, and even though this has been a year of major change for our family, it has also been a year of complete and utter dependance on HIM and I am sure that is all HE ever wanted to begin with.

May you and your family experience the true meaning of Christmas tomorrow…be blessed, be safe, and know that you are loved.

I am going to leave you with my all time FAVORITE Christmas song (MARY DID YOU KNOW)…enjoy! 😉

Serving Him,

  1. It is amazing to see how God works. I am so happy that you and your family had a Christmas week to remember. That is what Christmas and pretty much life is all about.
    Much love, Jules

  2. Mari, Thank you so much…you are such a wonderfully kind woman…I am so glad that our paths have crossed.

Jules, thanks for being a friend even when I wasn’t very “friendly”…you have a good heart!

Sue, It is so strange how I can read your response and know that I know that I know that you “get it!”. Thanks for being so willing to open your heart up to another minitry partner. You continue to bless me…

  4. My DH finished full time pastoring last December to go in another direction and I have to tell you sitting together this Christmas just to “be there” was SUCH A BLESSING! I can totally relate.
