Take Me Out to the Ball Game…

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Saturday mornings these days! You see, here in South Florida this is BASEBALL SEASON and we are a baseball loving family…especially when the kids are playing.
My oldest son, Nick, has been playing ball since has 3, yep, he started a league in Ft. Lauderdale at 3, crazy, I know, but HE LOVES IT!

I wanted to share with you what we did this past Saturday (for everyone up north…I am sorry y’all are still getting slammed with snow). It rained all night Friday night and some Saturday morning, but Nick’s game wasn’t until NOON (which in South Florida means it is pretty stinkin’ HOT) but this past Saturday it was absolutely amazingly cool and refreshing outside.

It stopped raining mid morning, but behind the rain it brought in 35 mile per hour winds; which made playing a tad more challenging, but hey, these kids are 13-16 years old, and they love a challenge!
Saturday they played the number one team in the division and….

Let’s just say it was my son’s line drive to right field that drove in the two runs that we needed to help us win by ONE run!!! (Proud mom here…sorry, just HAD to share that part!) He doesn’t like to be the center of attention so here is a pic of him (yep, I know it’s blurry, it was the best one I had…he hates it when I take his picture in front of the team) as the coach explained the importance of the RBI’s Nick brought in for the game. (That part is SO his dad…he does not like to be in the spotlight.)

Here’s a view of the game from my seat. That’s my boy on 2nd…and yeah, I know, it is NOT a great shot of him, but I thought my friend Bonnie, over at Simple Beauty, would love this pic because it is really kind of neat.

There’s no baseball this week until Thursday due to the State testing (FCAT’s) this week…pray for the kids…the schools here really do work them into a frenzy about the tests, so they are pretty frazzled by the whole thing.

Hanging out in the Bleachers,

  3. Aaaaahhhhh – I love baseball season here, too. We’re a few weeks behind you with it starting, but I loved seeing your photos!

  4. You’ll have to stop by my place and see our FCAT video. We really try to remind the kids that they CAN relax and show what they know!

You have every right to be proud of your son’s great play.

That wind was something on Saturday, wasn’t it???

    Blessings to you!!

  5. Nick Rocks! Mom has a right to be proud.
My 11th grader is taking his ACT tomorrow and Thursday. I am guessing that must be about the same thing.
    Smiles!

  6. Sounds like a fun family Saturday. I am soo jealous of the weather. If you really need to be cooled off maybe I can mail you some snow!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. You are right !! I dooooooo LOVE it! And do you know, it takes me back to my childhood ! Baseball is so not popular here in Australia. Jono plays soccer ! BUT … my brother was an amazing ball player. We all started t-ball and then I played softball and Jimmy played baseball. He was a pitcher … a good one ! I reckon he might have had a career in ball but he rode his bike at full speed into a metal trash can one night and after the surgery … well, the knee was never the same !

How cool that your son drove in the winning runs !!! WOOO HOOO !!!!

  8. Get Out with that hot sunny weather!!
No, your Blessed to be there, I love the picture through the fence 3D (AWESOME)…Good lookin son!!’
    love ya

  9. Wow, beautiful weather. And baseball! Even when the season is upon us it seems that Little League is dwindling up here, being replaced by soccer. I miss seeing kids playing ball, like we did as kids.

  10. That weather looks so invitinggggg!!!!! Congrats on the game! Way to go Nick!!! We have tests soon after the kids start school called the MEAPs, it is pretty stressful for them too! Now I ask you is it making their education any better?

  11. My little man has started his third year of ball and LOVES it! I have to say I enjoy it too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing your pics.

Oh, and yes I got my package and have been enjoying it. I’ve been a little slow with the book due to our Women’s Retreat, illness, baseball, finance bible study with church and school/work but I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me.

    Thanks again! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I’m going to have to learn to like ball. My daughter started playing softball this year. Well, we won’t start til May…but we’re practicing already.

Glad you stopped by my blog again!

  13. Great baseball post, it got me singin’…Take me out to the ball game, take me out for some fun!!

Yep we are also a baseball family! My son plays for our local team but also plays for this crazy, time consuming tournament team that travels all over….but for all the chaos it brings, I never miss a game. ๐Ÿ™‚

It is so fun to watch when it is your own son out there. Enjoy the season. Way to go Nick! ๐Ÿ™‚
