Godly Gals ~ Cari D. Johnson

BLIND FAITH
By: Cari D. Johnson

This morning I was fixing my daughter’s hair.  The front part would not cooperate and needed some hairspray.  I didn’t want to sting her eyes, so I said to her, as I have many times before:  “Look up at me.  Close your eyes!”

Spritz, spritz, and she skipped away to start her day.  Yet my directives echoed in my mind.  “Look at me…Close your eyes.”  I wondered, how is she supposed to do both?

Though she’s never resisted, my instructions seemed mutually exclusive:
Look at me.
Close your eyes.

The Lord instantly steered my thoughts toward my recent struggles.  Yes, Lord, how can I do both?  You say, “Look at Me.”  And as I begin to discuss the issues and crossroads at hand, You continue, “Close your eyes”.
I know you have the details of our life in your plan.  I must walk by covenant faith in Your provision…not by confusing facts and figures on paper.
I want to look to You and close my earthly eyes.

Help me see things in my life with Your perspective.

Help me live deliberately in Your righteousness.

Thank you, Father, for blind faith.  Thank you for speaking to me through hairspray.  When I think of little Ardyn –face tilted upward, eyebrows raised in anticipation, and eyes closed in obedience – I know what is required of me. In You I put my trust.  I turn my eyes upon You.  Thank you for allowing the things of this world to grow strangely dim.  Great is Your glory and grace!

“We live by faith, not by sight…But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope…I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”
2 Corinthians 5:7, Galatians 5:5 John 16:33

Wow Cari, I love that! Look at me! Close Your Eyes!  So simple and yet so hard to do sometimes…thank you for your sweet words of encouragement for us all today!
I can hardly believe that this September will be exactly one year since the Godly Gals series was launched.  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would take off like this or that I would be so blessed to connect with some truly remarkable “Real Women, Real Life, Real Faith” in action.  I love that!
This summer I’ve got a jam packed calendar full of some amazing Godly Gals for you…I can’t wait for you all to meet them!
I’m also scheduling new Godly Gals for this fall, so if you are even a tad bit interested, then please send me an email at melsworldministry {at} gmail {dot} com and I’ll send you a copy of the submission guidelines.  I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Have a blessed day!
