Grand Slam IMPACT
This past Sunday we had our GRAND SLAM IMPACT meeting for ALL Preschool & Children’s Ministry Volunteers. We had a great night of interactive fun, teaching, and games. This was the first time that we had our meeting in the Main Auditorium so it was a bit interesting to use the “Big Stage” to host the meeting. All in all I think the team did a GREAT job (a real home run) decorating the room and setting the theme (it’s all about the environment).
We started out talking about being on the BENCH and then getting in the BATTERS BOX. So many times people sign up to be a part of ministry but never get off the bench…we challenged them to really step up to the plate and get in the game.
We then had everyone move (as a group…it was timed…you should have seen 85 people run to 1st base…it was awesome!) to 1st Base where we talked about “Who are the Players“. We disected that and talked about the importance of team. We handed out packets of Juicy Fruit Bubble gum with a sticker that said “Sticking Together!“.
We set the countdown clock for 30 seconds and had them run to 2nd Base. This is a pretty competitive group because they were running over each other (actually it was quite amazing!). At 2nd Base we talked “What Makes a Winning Team“…we told them that it is all about the practice of P3 (Prayer, Prepare, Partner). Luke 6:46-48 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.” It’s not about the talent, it’s about the discipline. We handed out bags of peanuts (like at the baseball game) with a card in it that said…”This Place Would Be Nuts Without You!“.
When we got ready for 3rd Base they were on to the game so we changed things up and had a 7th inning stretch where we had some very energetic volunteers get up and lead everyone in the YMCA. (Hey…we work in Preschool and Children’s Ministries…we’ll do just about anything for a laugh!) Then we threw the curve ball and started the clock to get to the next base. At 3rd Base we talked about “What is a Weekend Win“. We talked numbers, growth, life change and really tried to clarify wht a win looks like in our ministries. We gave away some Hand Clappers for everyone to wave, make noise, and celebrate our weekend wins!
We wrapped the night up with run through HOME PLATE! At home plate we talked about how important it is to bring everything we do in the weekend and tie it into the HOME!!! We want to be the church everyday…not just on the weekend. The church is not a building…the church is each and every one of YOU! We gave away a baseball bat/ball keychain that says “Home Run” so that the volunteer could have a reminder of what we are here to do…reach the entire family!
It was an awesome night…I am truly honored to lead this ministry…I love doing life with the community called Flamingo Road and the Preschool Ministry volunteers are the BEST!!! Don’t forget…PRESCHOOL ROCKS!
