Thoughts…#3

Ok…I know that the conference is “officially” over…but I have to tell you…I have so many notes, so many random thoughts about this, and I just HAVE to share them with you all!!!

So…here goes…notes from Sheila Walsh‘s session:

Sheila’s latest book is …”God has a DREAM for your life“…(which is right up my alley!!) I love when people sit down and actually DREAM about what God has in store for them…I truly believe that most people never stop long enough (myself included) to DREAM.

* There’s a difference between the “American Dream” and God’s Dream for you!

* There’s nothing that will alienate you more than stuff.

* Max Lucado has said that you have never lived an unloved moment in your life.

* She used the analogy of Dorothy on the “yellow brick road”…

Melissa’s Thoughts on Dreaming…

I am a firm believer in the philosophy of “DREAM BIG, God does!” (~Melissa Mashburn”ism”) Seriously…think about it…when was the last time you sat down, got your journal out, got your Bible out, and prayed and asked God to show you where HE wants you to go.

Dreaming takes time…Dreaming takes patience (I am NOT good with that)…Dreaming is being quiet (not good at that one either)…Dreaming, if done constructively is a good thing…

Growing up many of us, myself included, were discouraged from “dreaming”…it was looked at as a bad thing, but it’s not…dreaming can be good if you do something with your dreams. Go after them, make a plan, talk to someone, but don’t watch your life go by without taking the chance to reach your dream!

Take a minute RIGHT NOW and hit “comment” and actually write out something that you have been “dreaming” about…

I’ll tell you mine in the next post!

  1. What a great question and it is so glad to see you back. What I dream about… I dream about being a BEACON OF LIGHT for God, having a family that glorifies Him in all we do. I dream about how we are going to reach the people of this community and around the world that they may know the amazing LOVE our Heavenly Father has for them and of course I dream about how we could make the Preschool Ministry on the corner of Flamingo and Stirling Rock even more than it does now. Dreams are great and I just love knowing that God has a plan for each of us to make them come true. Maybe not in the way we envisioned but a way that will take us one step closer to reaching our God Potential. Thanks Mel for teaching and letting me DREAM BIG you are an awesome mentor and friend. LOVE YA !!

  2. Mel,
I just love the DREAM “campaign” you have going on. Yes, I agree that I am not a dreamer and continually live life, just as it comes and don’t ever take the time to journal, read bible, and plan on my dreams. Like you, as a child I was told, ah, dreams, they never come true!! So now, I am going to make it a priority to write out my dreams and plan out for what God has in store for me in the future. I like your quote of Dream Big, because he does!!! Thanks for your encouraging words!! 🙂

…thanks for your words…it is a great sense of encouragement when someone actually takes the time to post a comment!

  4. I’ve been dreaming more and more about what God has in store for my husband and I. My biggest dream, that I never thought I would want, is to have a baby. We want so much to raise our own family that I dream, and pray of course, every day about it!

  5. Dear Friend…

If God gave you a dream for a baby HE will give it to you one day. It might not always be the way that you originally think about when you dream it, but it will come. I will join you in prayer for the family you are dreaming about…

    Melissa
