TV FREE Monday’s ~ Part 3
Welcome Back to TV FREE Monday’s in Mel’s World!
Who knew three weeks ago that we would still be on board with TV FREE Monday’s. I have to tell you, it is getting easier each and every week. As a matter of fact we watch Extreme Home Makeover together on Sunday evenings as our “last tv time” together, then the kids don’t watch anything else until Tuesday morning.
It has really been enlightening to see just how much we “depend” on the tv to “entertain” us and help us “veg out”. Seriously…it has been eye opening!
We had a MAJOR VICTORY this morning with the TV FREE Monday and I just HAD to share it with you…we had a picnic with our church that was pretty much ALL day yesterday, so we all crashed after we got home last night and didn’t get the verse ready for TV FREE Monday (remember…my hubby take a Bible verse on all the TV’s so we remember not to turn on the tv and to also help us memorize God’s World).
Well, my 13 year old son (Bailey) got up this morning, noticed that the tv’s didn’t have a verse on them, then went online to Biblegateway.com to find a verse perfect for this week. He picked John 8:12 NLT (“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”) for this week’s verse, and I have to tell you that I am just beaming, full of joy & excitement that he would take it upon himself to set us up as a family with such a great verse for the week.
You see…they get it…your kids will get it…it doesn’t happen over night, but it does happen!
Happy TV FREE Monday!
Hey, if you decide to pick up the challenge of TV FREE Monday’s or even the challenge of the Memory Verse for the week, please stop by and let me know…I’d love to cheer you on!
Wow, very cool! I’m not sure I’m ready to take the plunge, esp. with both my boys sick today, but we can definitely start memorizing scripture each week! Thanks for the idea!!
Hey There Christi,
That would be awesome…I hope you do join in, the more the merrier! ;D Sorry to hear the boys are sick today, praying they get to feeling better real soon!
xoxo,
MElissa
I love it! Most especially cause they are boys who are learning to be Godly husbands and fathers. It’s such an important thing.
Hugs,
Susan
Way to go you guys! I need to talk to Steve about it yet! You are an inspiration!
