Godly Gals ~ Jen Welton

Mom…I’m Scared
By: Jen Welton
It was another night of summer storms.
To me, the lightening flashing across the sky was beautiful
and the thunder rumbling deep in my chest was amazing
To my son; however, it was anything but that.
I could hear it in his voice…he was a mess
He must have been desperate for me because he had to walk down a dark hallway and open a door to a dark room to get to me. I immediately pulled him into my arms and calmed him down. I told him I was there for him and nothing was going to “get” him.
He immediately relaxed and drifted off to sleep.

I couldn’t help but think how much that resembles what we, as daughters of God, do when we need Him.

Something happens in our lives that cause chaos and a sense of dread and we know if we go to our Father he’ll make everything ok.
Sometimes (ok, a lot of times) we try pulling out our Wonder Woman gear and stubbornly fight the enemies/issues that attack.
God just laughs and continues to love us while He waits for us to come to Him.

But He made us to be self-sufficient.” Yes, that’s why we pray like it depends on God while working like it depends on us.

It’s not that He will take away what is causing chaos, but he’ll hold us in His big ol’ comforting arms so we can take those moments to relax in Him and regroup.
Calgon is so overrated compared to our Heavenly Father!

I hope you take some time this weekend or next week to reflect where in your life you could jump in His arms and let go for a time.

I promise you’ll come out refreshed and renewed, ready to tackle that scary storm.
A Little Bit About Jen:
Jen lives in Missouri with her guys (husband and two boys). She has a strong personal faith and holds a special place in her heart for women who have open wounds from childhood. She is a firm believer that laughter is a gift from God and it’s meant to be used.

Thank you so much Jen, what a great reminder of just how awesome His love is for us.  Yes, He is way better than Calgon…any day!  I just love your heart and am so thankful to have you join us for Godly Gals!
I hope you all have had a chance to go back and look over the Godly Gals that have been here over the last year.
There are some truly remarkable ladies taking their everyday, ordinary lives and placing them as their offering to God.   If you haven’t take a minute to go back and read through some of them, you’ll be so blessed!
Also, I’m looking for YOU too!
Yes…YOU!
Take some time today to pray about writing something for the series!
All you have to do is send me an email at melsworldministry {at} gmail {dot} com and I’ll send you a copy of the Submission Guidelines.  That doesn’t mean you have to write anything it’s simply taking the next step.
What are you waiting for?
