Warrior Chicks – Chapter 2
CHAPTER 2 – Rise and Shine!
Welcome Back Warrior Chicks! It was another GREAT Friday group meeting and I am so excited about how God is using this book to reach so many people!
Before we get going on the notes…I want to say HELLO to all our friends in South Africa who are joining us in the study of the book! I wish you guys were here with us, but we celebrate together as WARRIORS!
Psalms 139:11-12 – If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
How can the darkness of your situation appear as light?
– It’s my choice – I had to make a decision to be focused on plugging forward…for me, it was a huge time of spiritual growth (husband – thyroid cancer)
– I believe you make the choice to believe that everything will work out for good.
-? – Would you chance your actions if you could? – No, during that time there were others watching, learning, and growing through it.
*** In tough times you have two choices, to be a whiner or a WARRIOR! ***
How is a woman from the past or present whose life challenges you to rise? Imagine that she is cheering you on.
– My mom, even though we just had a fight on the phone.
– my mom, we moved here from Columbia with only 2 bags for each of us. She moved us here to make a better life for us – she moved us out of Columbia for our protection and safety.
– my mum, it has been a life long relationship, its a constant learning process (watching the good and the bad).
– My mom was the comfortee – when you went to comfort her you always walked away comforted.
– My grandma – she was a single mom in the years after the depression when being a single mom, see post here, raised 8 kids on her own, had three jobs, and is the matriarch of the family who have grown from 8 to over 120 people…what a woman!
Who is watching you fight your battles? Your daughter? Your coworker? Your friend? List everyone who is following your lead.
– My daughter is watching and learning – she has been able to walk through her stuff just by watching me…and she is 10 years old.
– My two teenage daughters
– My friends, my kids, my husband, my family
How do you feel knowing they are watching?
– Huge responsibility in knowing…
OK…now it is up to you, our online Book Group Chicks!!! Go to page 199 in the back of the book and tackle some of the questions, or post about these questions or answers!
Start Posting, I can’t wait to hear from you…
Hey its me (again). What an awesome opportunity to gather around a group of warrior chicks. The title of this book is defining to us women who are not in a war against anyone, but all in favor of God who IS the truth, the life, the light and the ONLY ONE who will never fail us. What a great opportunity to gather around great women discussing life and GOD.
See you next Friday!
Ivy…is WAS a great morning! Thanks for your input, sharing, and friendship! You are awesome!
Melissa 😉
Hi Warrior Chicks: Just like Yvi said “it was a great morning”. This chapter showed me that God gives us each day as an opportunity to start again, so Rise and Shine warrior Chicks. We have the choice to get up keep moving. Just talking to all the ladies at the group and reading their comments proves that we have so much to offer. All of you are amazing, strong Godly women that are willing to rise for God’s purpose. See you next Friday.
Much Love, Juliana
Amen Jules…it is so true…each of us has a story to tell and when we lean on each other we can inspire others and reach after God with all we have!

This book has really hit home for me since I fought breast cancer seven years ago. I approached my battle very similarly to the way Holly did in that I never wanted to sit back and whine, I got mad and I wanted to do battle. The darkness of my situation was something that only stayed with me for a couple of days, after that I realized this was someting God had chosen me to go through and I was going to get the most out of it that I could. In the end, it made me a better, happier person who appreciates life so much more and I now see the world through different eyes.
My Mom is a breast cancer survivor as well and she is always my biggest supporter. She went through the whole thing with me even though she was in California. I did the same for her two years later when she was diagnosed.
Since my family was so far away, it was my friends who watched me fight my battle. Many of them told me I was an inspiration to them and that they now knew that if they ever had to face something like cancer they could do it just like I did. I felt like it was a big responsibility to know people were watching me. I didn’t want to be the “victim” I wanted to be the “warrior chick” that kicked cancer’s butt!
How can the darkness of your situation appear as light?
I’m supposed to learn something from this situation…….
Consider your trial(s). How can you “rise while it is yet night”
My current trial is that I am only in control of me…. and even then i’m not… He is in control.
Who is the woman from the past or present whose life challenges you to rise? Imagine that she is cheering you on..
My Holly and Cary
What lesson from her own life would she share with you?
My Holly with her great relationship with Jesus and My Cary who gives me a light at the end of the tunnel
Who is watching you fight your battles?
My friends………
How do you feel knowing they are watching
a huge responsiblity
You Go Natalia…keep reading and posting my friend!!!
Melissa
As one who is called to be a Warrior, and one who has been called a Whiner (in the kindest loving way only a husband will tell you :-), I felt the call to get to it, whine, or act and which way? Awesome!
