Manic Monday
Well, I guess the best intentions don’t always make things work out the way you want, now do they?
Seriously…what is up with that?!?! I mean, I set out the clothes, got the lunch boxes ready, (you are still singing that song in your head while I post…aren’t you?), got up early, rode the exercise bike, got a shower (that always makes the day better), and don’t you know what happened next…BAM! The kids looked at each other and one must have been breathing the others air because that was just about all it took to turn the day off the beaten tracks.
Has that ever happened to you? I mean, it happened so fast I really wasn’t prepared for it to come…but silly me, I have a pre-teen and a teenager (I am SO not that old, am I?) in the house, and from what I have been told this is somewhat normal! Ha, me? Normal! Never!
Any who…the kids recovered in time for our morning devotionals…thank God! Guess what the devotional was talking about? James 3:8-10 in which in my Message Bible says is…”The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father, with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth. My friends, this can’t go on.“
Holy Smokes…talk about being as my British friends say, “Spot On!”. Well…after much prayer and negotiating we were able to set the stage for the kids to walk out the door for Middle School. There are too many things tempting my kids (not specifically, but Middle School in general is a temptation for our youth today) at school and I did NOT want their last few moments at home to be yucky. So we broke out the Good Book and were able to turn it around…almost like a Do-Over! I love it!
So, even though the morning started out like a Manic Monday (you are STILL singing that song, aren’t you?) we were able, by God’s grace, to turn it around!
Sisters…never forget that we are in a spiritual battle for our kids! Always fight, always pray, and never give up!
Kudos to you for getting them out the door after equipping them with the Word of God!
thanks. now that song will be in my head all night.
;P
glad your day got turned around!
Preach it Siesta! We have been there in our house. It only takes one bad apple some mornings and everyone starts complaining, whining, carrying on… Thanks for a very important reminder.
Smiles!
yes, indeed … and I’m STILL singing it ! ha ha. Why is it that some songs just get stuck in your head ?
You got that right Mel. Even without children to get moving, it’s hard enough to get myself moving! And yes, I was singing that song. I used to love that.
Thanks for a great post! My kids (who are 3 and 5) usually start the day bickering and many times I have had to call a time out and pray out loud. It helps calm them down and we get to start the day over.
I am so still singing that song. I loved the Bangles. Glad you were able to turn your day around. I hate mornings that don’t go well. What time do you get up anyways?! YOU GO GIRL!!!
Some morning no matter what you do or how planned out you have it, it just does not work out. I was happy to see you were able to change that.
Noe I will be singing that song for the rest of the day.
What happens when you have an only child? She bickers with me. And is quite hard to turn it around….
Is the bangles from your era? I wouldn’t know I am not that old….LOL!
(I know you are gonna get me for this…)
Love ya man
Ivy
Good for you! I just hate it when the kids leave with a bad feeling or start in the morning.
You are right, we are in a spiritual battle!
Oh yeah, it’s stuck in my head too. Oh how I loved that song in its’ day!
So glad you were able to turn that one around.
It is really cool when they get older and decide to like each other, it usually happens when one starts driving and the other would like a ride.
Oh not 80’s music!
🙂
I can´t believe that it has taken me soooo long to get over to your blog. I am so glad that I did. I have observe your comments on others blogs and decided it was high time for me to drop on over. I have 2 teenagers in my house and it can get hairy. Sadly I am not always able to focus on the Lord, but I want to get better. It´s a great reminder and yes…I was singing the song the whole way through your post!
Unfortunately THAT battle never ends!!! As long as I have breath in me I will not give up or cease praying.
Susan
…my I don’t have to run day…da da da da da da daaa da!
🙂 His Word will not return void! Praising Him for that over our children!!
Have a blessed Wednesday!! A wonderful Wednesday!!
Holly
The nerve of that child, to breathe the other one’s air. He was probably looking at him too!
Oh, I feel your pain. And I’m so impressed you got them on the Bible page before you got them out the door.
And oh, you make me feel old – that song is not at all familiar to me. Must be from my post-college days of working night shift and sleeping all day.
Got a great book to recommend to you – come by my blog when you get a chance!
WOW!!!!The Bangles? Are you kidding me? Think I used to have my hair like that…OH NOOOOO I am really getting old. I am so happy for DO OVERS… Never stop fighting, never stop praying and never give up..go it! Love ya, Jules
great post. you’re right – there are so many temptations in middle school, not to mention pressures and discouragement. your kids are blessed to have those words of wisdom and encouragement as they leave the house.
and yes, i was humming the song :]
I am so excited to see that so many people not only remember but also love the BANGLES! 😉
Thanks for letting me share my manic monday with you all…Tuesday was better!
