On My Knees

Welcome to a very special Speak to My Soul Sunday!!! Since I am out of town and trying to get ready to come back home (to reality) I asked a very good friend of mine to be a Guest Speaker on the blog today and write today’s post.

I am so honored and thrilled that she said yes, and without further rambling on my part let me take a minute to thank and welcome my friend Sue, from Praise and Coffee. Sue, you continue to bless me each and every day…thank you so much my friend!
~Melissa

First…and in true “guest speaker style” …let me say how honored I am to be sharing with you today on Mel’s World.

I know this girl…she’s the real deal!
I’m so grateful that God brought us together.
Love ya!
Sue

On Our Knees

When is the last time you were on your knees? No really…ON your knees?

I admit, sometimes I forget the power of this incredible posture. It brings us to a place us submission and humility.

How beautiful a sight for our Savior.

Matt 18:26-27
26 “The servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’
27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
NIV

Result of falling on his knees…canceled debt.

Mark 1:40-42
40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41 Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
NIV

….healing

Mark 5:6-8
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.
7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won’t torture me!”
8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you evil spirit!”
NIV

…deliverance

Mark 10:17-22
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.
19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.'”
20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
NIV

…the offering of eternal life…

Acts 7:59-60
59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”
60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
NIV

…what can I say…I weep at the thought….

Acts 9:40-43
40 Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive.
42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
NIV

…healing…and many people believing!

I would be remiss to not end with this powerful, life-changing verse:

Phil 2:9-11
9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
NIV

We will all bow.

Let’s do it by choice and not force.

Our hope is in Him,
Sue

  1. Mel, thanks for having Sue give the Word.
Sue, what a great reminder, I get to cozy in my reading chair(prayer chair) sometimes. When I know I need to be on my knees not sitting on my behind! Oh how I needed this Thank you so much:)
    love ya,
    Deb

  2. Guess that is why I enjoy gardening so much…time spent on my knees in wonder of the creation before us…giving thanks for each new day and beginning…feeling the warm touch of grace as sunlight kisses my face…rejoicing in the heavens of a glorious new day…its very humbling and refreshing

  3. This brought to mind a song by Jaci Velasquez – “ON MY KNEES”
    Lyrics
There are days when I feel
The best of me is ready to begin.
Then there are days when I feel
I’m letting go and soaring on the wind.cause Ive learned in laughter or in pain How to survive.

I get on my knees, I get on my knees; There I am before the love that changes me. See I don’t know how, but there is power When I’m on my knees.

I can be in a crowd Or by myself, in almost anywhere When I feel there’s a need To talk with God; he is emmanuel. When I close my eyes no darkness there, There’s only light.

I get on my knees, I get on my knees; There I am before the love that changes me. See I don’t know how, but there’s power
In the blue skies, in the midnight
    When Im on my knees.

I hope you don’t mind I just thought I would share the lyrics.

    Thank you

  4. It’s amazing how a physical gesture can really affect the way we think and feel. Kneeling is one of those gestures and we should do it more often.

  5. I to love the song by Jaci shared above by Monkeygiggles! I thank you for your post above. I have been on my knees lately and will be on them more, I am praying so hard as Satan is attacking my church (God’s Church) and my dear Pastor and his wife badly right now! I know that God is in control and I know that those that are telling lies and doing hateful things are being controlled by Satan and the answer is going to come when many are “ON THEIR KNEES”
Your post has helped me greatly today and reminded me that HE knows what We are going through! thanks again!
